Reflect on the Year, a Simple Method

It’s the end of the year & you’d like to review… but where to begin??

It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by everything that’s happened – and all that didn’t. In this video, I’m sharing my super-simple process to reflect on the year with ease. We’ll look at how to review your wins, release what’s not working, and plan your next moves with intention.

Step 1: REVIEW WHAT YOU’VE DONE EACH MONTH

Start by gathering pockets of information. Look at your calendar or diary, your sales data, and any notes you’ve kept throughout the year. If you’ve been doing monthly reviews, these are a great to bring together.

You might want to think about:

  • New courses or offers created
  • Key launches
  • Clients you worked with
  • Website traffic / where people came from
  • Which marketing channels worked best for you
  • Summits, collaborations, or bundles you took part in
  • Projects you’ve completed or moved forward
  • And then in your personal life, things like trips you’ve taken, people you’ve caught up with, key home / life events or celebrations

Step 2: HAVE HEADINGS IN A GOOGLE DOC

Once you know where your pockets of information are, I’d open up a google doc and create headings, categories like the ones above where you’ll add in information.

Then, as you go through your diary / reviews / data, you can add those headline notes (just a line, or word or two for each) into your google doc. Instead of a mass of information by month or week, you’ll start to see an overview of the year – all the key projects in your business and what you’ve done in your wider life.

It will give you an overview that’s much easier to see and reflect on.

Step 3: 3 Key Questions

With that overview in front of you, I’d then ask yourself these 3 questions:

  • What are you most proud of?
Note or circle the achievements that you’re most proud of. Which stand out as big wins or important to you? It’s easy to forget all you’ve done and move onto the next thing; this helps you acknowledge them.
  • What do you want to release?
Look at what didn’t go as planned; what do you want to refine next year (e.g., test in a different way) and which would you like to release / stop doing entirely?
  • What are you most excited for next year?
What lights you up as you think about the year ahead? What would you love to get your teeth into & do?

By putting a bit of order to your reflection, it makes it much easier to take pride in what you have done, and reflect and affirm on what you desire to do in the year ahead.

Happy reviewing!
